When to use it

The required classroom walkthroughs

The state OTES 2.0 model calls for at least two classroom walkthroughs, informal visits of less than 30 minutes. This form is built for exactly those visits.

Evidence the rubric asks for

The rubric lists classroom walkthroughs and informal observations as evidence for Lesson Delivery, Classroom Environment, and Assessment of Student Learning. Every visit is saved with its notes, photos, and ratings.

A focus area for each visit

Walkthroughs can center on a teacher's focus areas, strengths or areas for growth. Comments on every component let you capture exactly what you saw for that focus.

Why only these six components

The OTES 2.0 rubric has 15 components across six domains. Instructional Planning and Professional Responsibilities depend on lesson plans, data, and conversations, so you can't see them in a short visit.

This form keeps only what you can see in the room. Once it is in your account, you can edit it, add components, or change the wording to fit your building.
